Experience and Approach

Dr. Jane Blouin’s journey in psychology began with her undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa, where she earned a Bachelor of Science and was awarded the Gold Medal for her outstanding academic performance. She continued her education at Carleton University, completing both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology. Dr. Blouin also conducted her doctoral research at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland, under a scholarship from the Medical Research Council of Canada.

Early in her career, Dr. Blouin held a key position at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, where she helped develop several groundbreaking programs, such as the Ottawa Eating Disorder Clinic, which she co-founded in 1984, and the Stress Management Clinic in 1986. These initiatives continue to shape effective treatment options for anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.

Her approach to therapy emphasizes unconditional acceptance, compassion, and often includes appropriate humour to help clients feel comfortable during sessions. Dr. Blouin works with both short-term and long-term clients, tailoring her strategies to meet each individual’s unique needs and goals.
