Dr. Doug Altilio
C. Psych.
Dr. Doug Altilio, C.Psych., graduated with a Doctoral degree in Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon, USA, and has been a licensed Psychologist for 10 years.
Prior to coming to the OCCT, Dr. Altilio has worked in a wide variety of settings and with many different populations. After early training in child and family therapy, Dr. Altilio designed and built a chronic pain management program at a hospital, worked in addiction treatment, worked on a mental health crisis team, and has worked in outpatient therapy with a diverse population.
Dr. Altilio has experience in providing therapy to individuals and couples for a wide variety of treatment issues. Current areas of focus include anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, chronic pain and those living with chronic medical conditions, substance use, grief/death, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, and insomnia.
Dr. Altilio integrates several theoretical perspectives based on the client’s unique needs, situation and history. These can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) among other theoretical approaches. Ultimately, his goal is to work collaboratively so the client develops a meaningful, satisfying relationship with their life.
