Experience and Approach

Dr. Arthur Blouin began his career after earning his Doctorate from the University of Ottawa in 1980, where he was awarded two National Scholarships for his groundbreaking research in Attention Deficit Disorder. After completing a prestigious Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National Medical Centre in Washington, D.C., under the mentorship of renowned psychologist Dr. C. Keith Conners, Dr. Blouin became Assistant Professor at George Washington University. There, he expanded his expertise in behavioral medicine and helped develop innovative approaches to psychological care.

Returning to Ottawa in 1984, Dr. Blouin continued to advance mental health services, serving as the Director of Research and Director of Psychology at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus. His work with psychiatric diagnosis led to collaborative efforts with top experts at Columbia University and authors of the DSM, enhancing psychiatric care on a broader scale.

Dr. Blouin’s approach is rooted in evidence-based therapies, particularly Cognitive Therapy. He has personally trained with Dr. Albert Ellis, the founder of Cognitive Therapy, and Dr. Christine Padesky, ensuring that the methods he employs are both practical and scientifically supported.
