Nicole Morton, M.A., Registered Psychotherapist (RP)

Ms. Nicole Morton completed her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University and went on to pursue comprehensive postgraduate training in couples therapy. Prior to this, Nicole completed a Bachelor of Arts at Nipissing University specializing in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.

Nicole’s experience includes providing support to clients within community organizations such as the Glengarry Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, where she provided psychotherapy to individuals from diverse populations struggling with various mental health concerns and found a special interest in providing support to adolescents and young adults. Nicole also worked as a residential counsellor at Maison Baldwin House, where her therapy was focused on supporting women and children who had experienced domestic violence. Nicole was also involved in facilitating group therapy at the Counselling and Support Services of SD&G Partner Assault Response program. In this setting she gained extensive experience working with couples in distress. She completed post-graduate training in CBT with couples.

Nicole also previously provided support and participated in facilitating educational programs at the North Bay and District Drop-In Centre Canadian Mental Health Association. Most recently, Nicole provided therapy at a private practice in Ottawa to clients struggling with a wide variety of mental health concerns. Her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, stress management, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, trauma, workplace difficulties and relationship concerns. Nicole enjoys working with couples in distress, and with couples who are struggling with emotional distance, disruptive life events, and financial and parenting conflicts. She also works with seniors experiencing challenges with aging.

Nicole works with clients to meet their goals using evidence-based practices. She uses an integrative client-centred approach, incorporating traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with innovative therapeutic approaches including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Nicole is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario working under the supervision of Dr. Justin Massey, Dr. Jane Blouin and Dr. Bill Utendale.

Nicole places emphasis on using a collaborative approach with clients, who benefit from her warm, compassionate interpersonal style. Nicole was born and raised just outside of the Ottawa area. When she is not working, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and her Yorkshire Terrier.
