Dr. Jeanelle Ali, C. Psych.

Dr. Jeanelle Ali is a graduate of the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and Master of Science (Clinical Psychology) programs at The University of the West Indies. A Fulbright Scholarship led Dr. Ali to The University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, USA where she earned a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Ali completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/ John Hopkins University School of Medicine focused on Pediatric Psychology and Pediatric Neuropsychology. Prior to coming to the OCCT, Dr. Ali completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and she is currently licensed to practice as a Psychologist in the state of Tennessee, USA, as well as in Ontario. Dr. Ali utilizes CBT with her clients, and incorporates related approaches of CBT-E, ACT, DBT and mindfulness.

Dr. Ali is specialized in adolescent mental health and Pediatric Neuropsychology. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults and enjoys working with a variety of clinical presentations and mental health concerns related to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and ADHD. She has extensive experience working with adults with a variety of anxiety-related conditions (OCD, phobias and panic), stress management and trauma. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings in Memphis, Tennessee including Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and The Center for Developmental Disabilities of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Ali’s research thus far has focused on youth with chronic illnesses. She has authored several scholarly articles and presented her research at national and international conferences. She currently collaborates with faculty members at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to examine predictors of academic and neurocognitive functioning among children with brain tumors.

Dr. Ali is active in the community and enjoys outdoor activities such as biking and hiking. She has two young children, and draws on her diverse personal and professional experiences to help clients.
