Common Conditions addressed at the CCT

Many individuals have difficulty managing the emotion of anger. It is termed IED when this leads to verbal aggression of physical aggression towards property, animals or other individuals, to an extent that has significant financial, legal, or interpersonal functioning. In these cases, the magnitude of the anger expressed is grossly out of proportion to the provocation or stressor to which the individual is responding.
Cognitive Therapy at OCCT addresses this condition with a focus on emotional regulation training, behavioural management and cognitive reframing of the meaning of the perceived threat or stressor which preceded the outburst.Clients learn to replace anger with assertive expressions of concern which enhance relationships, rather than disrupt them.
